Michigan Jewish Democrats Respond to Trump's Admission That U.S. Embassy Move Motivated by Evangelical Vote
GOP’s oft-cited myth Donald Trump is “most pro-Jewish President ever” exposed as fiction by President, himself, says MDJC Chair
WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. — Noah Arbit, founder and chairman of the Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus responded to President Donald Trump’s statement at a campaign appearance in Wisconsin that his administration’s widely-touted transfer of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem was “for the evangelicals”:
“I am grateful that President Trump has today exposed the ridiculous fiction peddled by the Republican Jewish Coalition and conservative media that his Israel policies are motivated by concern for Jews and support for the Jewish state, as opposed to pandering for the Evangelical Christian vote," Arbit said.
“It may come as a surprise to Matt Brooks, Sheldon Adelson, and the pundits on FOX News, but Donald Trump does not harbor a deeply-held concern for the welfare of Jews or the Jewish state; he is concerned for nothing and no one but himself. Jewish voters, 70% of whom disapprove of the President, understand this well, and resent Donald Trump for his role in presiding over (and trafficking in) the steepest rise in violent antisemitism in generations. For Jews, the only choice in November is the Democratic ticket led by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
